All private and Government Colleges and hostels across the State of Tamilnadu were closed on Sunday following the order by State Government.More than 10,000 people including students and political and social activists on Saturday attended the funeral of a youth, Muthukumar, who immolated himself in protest against Lankan troops operation in the island country. They also raised slogans against LTTE leader V Prabhakaran and condemned India for its alleged military support/supplies of armed help to SriLanka. Students and youth had been protesting against the plight of Tamil civilians since Lankan troops launched their operation against LTTE in the island nation. On Saturday, newly-formed Sri Lankan Tamils Protection Movement, which is demanding a ceasefire in Sri Lanka, gave a call for the state bandh on February 4. The bandh will coincide with Sri Lanka’s Independence Day.
